Solo Travel Day 2 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🇲🇾

06/01/2024

Hi bloggg! :) Back again! Today was an interesting day, let's say. I started off all prepared to go to the Twin Towers with the idea of going up them but as I started walking there from my hostel I just began feeling very meh (alone!) It's so hot here and that definitely has an impact as well though 😅 I walked around my local area Bukit Bintang, for a little bit, trying to decide what I was going to do: whether I was going to get food, go to the Towers still or do something else. It's super busy here and before I came I thought the busyness would help me feel less alone as there'd be people everywhere and lots to do, but actually, I think sometimes it might make it worse! I think it makes me realise even more that I'm by myself!! It's very overwhelming at times I won't lie! I finally decided on going to KL Forest Eco Park as this is the last area of natural rainforest left in Kuala Lumpur and they have lots of wildlife there too (monkeys!!) The only problem: I didn't have my camera on me and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to take some cool pics! I got a grab taxi back to my hostel to pick up my camera but the overwhelmed feeling came back so I cured it with a nap 😂

The nap worked a miracle and I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and head to the Eco Forest! The 2 girls I met the day before also decided they were going to come too so we all met up there which was fun! It had started to rain just as we were going in but it was kinda cool because it was only a light drizzle (which was appreciated in the 30-degree heat) and it felt right that it was raining in the rainforest!! We did a canopy tree top walk with those terrifying wobbly rope bridges (did face my fear of them a little bit though) and lots of hiking (and nearly climbing) up and down and through the forest!! It was super peaceful and the trees and plants were so cool; it was crazy to be in the middle of one of the biggest cities in the world but be walking through a very calming rainforest!!! Unfortunately we didn't see any monkeys :( so all I got to use my camera for was a caterpillar and a snail (albeit a very cool caterpillar!)

After we left the Eco Forest we walked across the city to Chinatown as we'd briefly been the day before on the walking tour and thought it looked sick! We had a wander round the main market streets where I wanted to buy *literally* everything I laid my eyes on!!! Why is everything so cool here!?! I don't have the luggage space!! We stopped in Butter Kaya Kopitiam a restaurant in the middle of Chinatown as we were desperate for a drink (and some AC.) I had a peach ice tea to start and ordered mushroom cheung fun as I was obsessed with the cheung fun I had the day before! The mushroom one looked very different but omg it was sooo good!!!! My new favourite food??? Yes.

After we'd refreshed and spent enough time in the AC we took the metro to the Twin Towers area so we could watch KLCC Lake Symphony Light and Sound Water Fountain Show which is pretty much exactly as the name suggests: a nighttime light and water show that happens in KLCC Park in front of the towers in the pool/fountain! This was SO COOL! The first one at 7:30pm seemed like a practice run as it was a bit smaller and lowkey but the next one at 8pm? Amazing. Way bigger fountain displays, all different colour lights glowing through the water and cool dramatic music that the water was dancing to! We were very impressed. We then all had the same dinner as the night before, the teriyaki tofu rice bowl, as it was sooo good! A big coincidence is that one of the girls I made friends with is actually staying in the same building as me just a few floors down so we walked back together. We walked all through Bukit Bintang and this place is CRAZY at night! The roads are just full of people and street performers, there's music and food everywhere and it's so bright because of all the lights and billboards even though it's late at night! One place I can think of to compare it to would be Khao San Road in Bangkok! I love it!! Back at my hostel now though blog. Day 2 complete ✅ Byeee!
